BRABEN ICT Solutions

Can your business keep going if IT fails?

A failed server or application can bring work to a halt. To get going again, your systems, connections and access must also work. We help you establish in advance what recovery requires and how long it could take.

Start with your business

What needs to work again first?

Which systems are essential to your daily work? How long can you manage without them, how recent must your restored data be and which work could continue another way for a while? Together, we identify where an outage would have the greatest impact and what takes priority.

We then identify which measures suit your business and what your current IT can realistically support.

The approach

Prevent

Maintenance and checks help spot problems early and limit unexpected downtime.

Protect

We assess how data is protected and whether key systems could run on other suitable hardware.

Recover

A recovery test shows whether systems and data can be restored, which steps are needed and how long it takes.

A server fails

What if your only server fails today?

When several applications run on one physical server, a single failure can disrupt your entire business. Making systems less dependent on that one machine, for example through virtualisation, makes recovery on another suitable server easier.

It does not happen automatically. Replacement capacity must be available, the data must be usable and the steps to restart everything must be known. If a system cannot be down for long, we assess whether a second server or another fallback option is needed.

External services

What if your cloud service goes down?

A cloud service can become temporarily unavailable. Keeping your data in the cloud does not automatically mean the application will immediately keep running elsewhere or that no recent data could be lost. What happens depends on the service and how it is set up.

We review the provider’s availability and recovery commitments, how you can retrieve your data and what your staff could continue doing in the meantime. This makes the impact of an outage at that provider clearer for your business.

Backups in practice

A backup is only valuable if recovery works.

A successful backup message does not prove that your business can get back to work. Essential parts may be missing, data may be unusable or recovery may take much longer than expected. Backups must also remain available if the original system can no longer be used after a failure or cyber incident. We therefore review whether they are kept sufficiently separate from that system.

That is why regular recovery tests matter. Actually restoring important systems and data shows whether backups can be used, which steps are needed and how long recovery takes. We agree what to test and how often based on the impact of an outage on your business.

Maintenance and preparation

The rest must be ready for recovery too.

A restored server is of little use if employees cannot access it. Outdated software, expired licences, missing documentation and unclear access can delay recovery. Depending on how you work, power or internet connections may also be a weak point. We therefore check the condition of your IT and what it takes to make it usable again.

This shows what needs maintenance in advance and what must be dealt with first during an outage.

Clear agreements

Know what to expect during an outage.

We agree which systems take priority, who does what and how quickly your business needs them back. Recovery tests help establish what your current IT can achieve and where improvements are needed.

We document the findings and recommendations in a report. This shows what is achievable during an outage and which improvements should take priority. Explore our services or tell us about your situation.
